Dr. Gabe Harter, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT, FAAOMPT
Gabe was born and raised in rural Hiawatha, Kansas, and being from a small town has grown to appreciate the tight knit community a small town offers. Growing up, Gabe was known for his love for sports and involvement in the community.
He was a scholarship basketball player for Bethany College and was a member of the Bethany College Honor’s Program. Gabe graduated from college in three years with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with Honors.
After completing college, Gabe was accepted into the Kansas University Medical Center Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. In DPT school, Gabe was awarded the Joan Mills Clinical Excellence Award for his superior performance during clinical internships. Gabe is a published author for the research study titled, Aerobic Exercise in Subacute Stroke Improves Cardiovascular Health and Physical Performance. This research study was published in the Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy (JNPT) and would later receive the Golden Synapse Award for best JNPT article of 2012.
Gabe is a passionately curious individual, and is driven to provide the highest level care possible in the physical therapy profession. He is a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist, a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist, and has completed his Fellowship in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy. In total, Gabe has taken over 10 years of continuing education, certifications, and credentialing!
Gabe was driven to make Harter Physical Therapy a family first, patient first experience for the community. Since opening in 2014, he has felt so blessed by the inspiring patients he has gotten to know, and the wonderful staff members that have joined the Harter Physical Therapy family along the way. The clinic, the commitment of the staff, and the incredible patients has been more than he could have ever imagined.
Gabe loves learning and helping others. Gabe has really enjoyed starting the Mentorship Program at HPT. This has allowed him to teach and train compassionate Doctors of Physical Therapy to grow their clinical expertise, become more confident clinicians, and deliver superb care to the HPT patients.
Outside of the clinic, Gabe’s primary joy is his family. He is a father to two incredible children – Kinley and Graham. Gabe enjoys building rockets with his children, as well as trying new experiments including building volcanos, making slime, and of course, bubbles!
Gabe is an explorer at heart. He enjoys exploring locally roasted coffee, listening to classical music, date nights with Amanda, reading, hiking, and supporting local sport teams.
